Verizon was another "tease" from my NY Broker, before I signed on with him.

He said among other things Verizon dominates the NY market and they have a great dividend yield. Further, there's some buzz that they're going to get the iPhone franchise soon, and that the stock should take off.

I bought in at $26.80 on 7/19/10.

Sold my brokerage position at $29.43 on 8/25/10. Still have a small position in VZ in an IRA.
