Sharon's Toffee Bar Recipe


Sharon has this "Cooky Book" that dates back to her youth. It's now held together with Gaffers tape, but she still refers to it for some of her favorites. This is not really a Toffee recipe, but the resultant cookie bars taste a bit like Toffee.

mix dry ingredients in a small bowl.

Cream butter and sugar together. Add Vanilla and flour mixture.

Preheat oven to 275 degrees.

Spread on greased cookie sheet. You want to roll it out pretty flat. We have a square bottomed Double Old Fashioned glass we usually use, but I suppose a rolling pin would work.

Bake for 20 minutes.

Remove from oven after 20 minutes and sprinkle about

on top.

Return to oven for 2 minutes. Remove from oven and spread chocolate. Be careful not to 'tear' the cookie. Fresh chips help. If your chips are near the 'best by' date (or older), they may not spread well.
